The International Cooperative Alliance holds the “The Cooperative Identity”. What is that? It is a statement that provides an internationally approved definition of a cooperative along with the values, ethics, and principles of cooperation. The Statement was adopted in 1995 and based on the Rochdale Principles (first drafted in 1844 and periodically updated about every 30-50 years since then). Now 30 years later, it is time for the Statement on the Cooperative Identity to get an update to remain relevant for this generation of cooperators and the realities of our times.

The survey is based on two documents: The Statement and the Guidance Notes on the Cooperative Identity
