This summer, The Evergreen State College will be offering Worker Cooperatives, An Introduction during the second summer session. This four-credit course meets on Tuesday and Thursday evening from July 29 through August 28th from 4-8 pm. Summer courses are open to non-degree students including the general public.

NWCDC Staffer John McNamara will be teaching a course on worker cooperatives at The Evergreen State College in the second summer session of 2015. This course will focus on the unique aspects of governance and accountability models for worker owned and operated cooperatives while also engaging financial tools for cooperatives and connection to the larger cooperative movement and its history. Students will explore the different governance models and learn about the support institutions for the worker cooperative movement in the U.S.
In addition to serving NWCDC as Cooperative Development Specialist, John earned a Masters in Management: Cooperatives and Credit Unions from Saint Mary’s University in 2010 and has 26 years of experience in governance and management of a worker cooperative. He is a founding member of the Democracy at Work Network of worker cooperative peer advisors and the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives.
In some cases, tuition waivers may apply.
